報章報道，愛滋病病毒個案現時的增長是20年前3倍。性接觸仍然是病毒傳播的主要途徑，佔所有個案76%。其他傳染途徑包括共用針筒、母親傳給嬰兒以及接觸血液。Sexual contacts remained the major means of transmission, accounting for 76 per cent of all cases. Other infection channels included sharing needles, mother-to-baby and blood contact。
