上街遊行

上星期日，數以萬計市民上街遊行要求普選，「上街遊行」的英文是 Take to the streets。
例如：「估計有二十五萬人上街遊行」是 An estimated 250,000 took to the streets.
「去年，法國成千上萬葡萄酒製造商上街遊行抗議收入下降」，英文就是：Thousands of French winemakers took to the streets last year to protest against declining income.
但 Street有些特別用法，我們要留意：例如 the man in the street，不是街上的男人，它指普通人、一般人，所以「一般人反對這項建議」是：The man in the street is opposed to this proposal. 而 a man/woman of the world 就是我們常常說的「見慣世面」的人，但 a woman of the streets 不是「街上的女人」，是「妓女」。
